The
music business is littered with stories about the good acts
that got away, to be buried and forgotten. Yet looking back, it stings a little
more sharply when it comes to Arrogance,
the North Carolina group featuring
Don Dixon (bass, vocals),
Robert Kirkland (guitar, vocals), Marty Stout
(keyboards),
Scott Davison (drums, vocals),
Rod
Abernethy (guitar, vocals).
Which is why
fans of smart, catchy, forever hummable tunes are bound to rejoice at the
release of 5’11 the “great lost Arrogance
album” (and considered by the band members to be their
best). The good guys do win in this case, artistically, at least. The tracks
have been rescued from the vault, dusted off, shined up, and now, released
for the
world to groove on.
